Many waterproof SPC rigid vinyl flooring options feature a backing layer or an attached underlayment in foam. This serves two purposes:
First, you won’t have to buy additional underlayment, and second, it provides less dense and resilient underfoot and sound absorption to your floor.
You will know this better if you’ve ever walked on a floor without underlayment, there is a hollow sound when stepped on and the attached backing prevents this.
There is already 1.5 mm IXPE mats foam backing in the bottom of flooring. As a bonus, you don’t have to spend extra money on buying underlayment and installing it before installing your new vinyl, which makes the installation faster and easier.
Installation is the same as the flooring without foam backing, simply click into place will be OK.
