How Can You Repair Broken Vinyl Plank or Tile?

Luxury vinyl has become a trendy flooring option for many businesses and private homes. What makes Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) and Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring so popular is its ability to replicate a variety of traditional and contemporary materials – including hardwood, ceramic, stone and porcelain – while being affordable, waterproof, extremely durable and easy to maintain.

Do Luxury Vinyl Tiles or Planks Break Often?

One of the many reasons people install luxury vinyl floors is their unprecedented durability. Vinyl tiles and planks can resist the scuffs, scratches and chips other types of flooring might suffer under sustained heavy traffic.

Luxury vinyl’s resilience is an especially attractive feature for commercial settings and large families with children and pets. Additionally, both LVT and LVP floors are far less likely to crack or break because they consist of layers of vinyl, a material with a uniquely flexible rigidity that other hard materials like stone, porcelain or wood lack.

How to Repair Minor Nicks and Gouges on Luxury Vinyl Flooring?

As durable as luxury vinyl floors are, they are not 100 percent immune to damage. Even a well-maintained floor can get scratches and scuffs from pets or moving furniture. If your LVT or LVP floor has suffered minor damage, you don’t have to replace it with a brand-new product.

That said, in some extreme cases it may be easier to simply replace a damaged plank or tile. The affordability of vinyl and the ease of many replacement options makes switching out damaged LVT or LVP relatively easy.

How Can You Repair Deep Scratches on Luxury Vinyl Flooring?

You’ll likely have to replace the damaged piece of flooring with new vinyl. To make this process as easy as possible, manufacturers often recommend getting extra tiles or planks in case the existing ones are damaged and need to be replaced. Keeping a few extra from your initial order ensures you won’t have to waste time or money looking for the perfect match for your existing floor.

Generally, there are two ways to go about replacing your luxury vinyl flooring: floating installation or the glue down method.
