Similar to dry back vinyl plank, SPC flooring is comprised of multiple layers that are fused together. However, unlike dry back flooring, SPC flooring feature a rigid core and is harder.
The high dense rigid core offers better resistance from scratches, or dents from heavy items or furniture being placed on top of it and makes the flooring less susceptible to expansion in cases of extreme temperature change. Topical spills or moisture is not an issue if properly cleaned in time. SPC was originally created for commercial markets because of their durability. However, homeowners have started using rigid core as well because of its ease of installation, design options and durability. It is important to note that some SPC varies from commercial to light commercial use depending on its core thickness and wear layer thickness.
Though installing over a flat surface is always a good practice to be in, floor imperfections are more easily hidden with SPC flooring due to its rigid core composition.
