1️. The floor should trigger your senses. What do you like, both aesthetically and emotionally?
2. How does the floor feel under your feet? In some countries, people tend to be barefoot at home. Comfort underfoot is important.
3️. Think about what feeling you want to have in the room – rustic and warm, with a lot of characterful cracks and knots in the wood floor, or a clean, minimalistic feeling?
4️. Think about the overall shape of the room and how light goes through it. Ideally, the flooring should be in line with the room.
5️. Don’t be afraid of contrast. A newly built home can gain a lot of character if you install the right rustic floor.
